Christiana Vasilas is an award-winning photographer whose passion for storytelling through imagery has led her to one of her proudest honors—being named an official photographer for the Proedriki Froura of the Hellenic Republic of Greece, best known as the Evzones, the Presidential Guard of Greece. In this esteemed capacity, she holds the historic distinction of being the first Greek-American woman of the diaspora to be entrusted with this role. For Christiana, this work is not only an artistic pursuit but also a bridge that connects her heritage, community, and history.

"Of all the extraordinary moments I have been honored to capture for the Proedriki Froura (Evzones), joining the Epitaphio procession led by Pater Stylianos Markantonis and the parish of the Holy Church of the Great Archangels (Taxiarchis) stands among the most moving. To witness the Evzones, together with former Commander Col. Ilias Karmiris, Military Office Director Efthymios Mikros, Vice Admiral, and Greece’s Minister of Environment Vasilis Kikilias, carrying the Epitaphio through the streets surrounding the Presidential Mansion and the Headquarters of the Proedriki Froura—pausing at the Fire Department and Evzone Headquarters for blessings—was an experience I will forever treasure.
My heartfelt gratitude to the Proedriki Froura for allowing me the privilege of photographing you—not only as the modern guardians of tradition, but as the humble men you truly are."
